British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a virtual get together of mainly European leaders reported that Russia will at some point have to sit down for peace talks which they will have to reach in the three year conflict.
He spoke to what is referred to as a “coalition of the willing” which included mostly European leaders also from Australia, New Zealand and Canada but not the U.S.
So at some point in time he’ll have to sit at the table, which is what Starmer said of Russian President Vladimir Putin that saw his country invade Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Earlier President Trump pressed for Moscow to accept a ceasefire agreement which was put together by U.S. and Ukrainian teams in Saudi Arabia and also Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported that it was up to Russia.
Putin reports that in theory he is for a ceasefire, but Russia still has issues which must be resolved before we see any agreement.
In his night time address Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Putin is playing for time and is put forth so many preconditions that in the end nothing will get done.
At the same time the U.S. has added to it’s sanctions which now include Russian oil and gas as well as financial sectors.
Saturday at which world leaders met saw issues of future military and financial support for Ukraine and Zelenskyy’s security brought up should a peace deal be reached. Zelenskyy was in attendance at the online video session.
